# How do you install or uninstall Lumion silently?
#### Here's how: 1. For Lumion 12.3 and newer:
**This applies to Lumion 12.3.1 and newer and the *Installer* version 2.40.7 or newer when installed on or after 29 June 2022.**
See section 2 for earlier versions.
**1.1: ** Download the Lumion *Installer* via your [*Lumion Account*](https://account.lumion.com) and then open/run the *Installer*.
If you had previously downloaded the *Installer* before 29 June 2022 then please download it again to get the latest version.

**1.2:** Enter if needed the *Activation Code* found in your *Lumion Account*[*.*](https://account.lumion.com) Please note that the *License Key* is embedded in the installation files, so you do not need to enter it anywhere during the installation. However, the *Activation Code* is required for the download process.
**1.3:** Wait for the Lumion installation files to be downloaded at the same location as the *Installer* executable file. Each file will have a file extension of '.0XX' for example '.000' through to '0.016'.
The following files must be downloaded initially before the silent commands can be used:
- Lumion\_\[version\]\_\[minor version\]\_Download.exe
- Lumion\_\[version\]\_\[minor version\]\_Download.cache
- Lumion\_\[version\]\_\[minor version\].0XX (requires files '.000' through to '.026' or '.027' for Lumion 2024 ( to '.016' for Lumion 12.5)).
Continue with the following steps after **all** of the installation files have been downloaded.
**1.4: ** Type "cmd" (no quotes) in the *Windows* search field and press *Enter*:
**1.5: ** Right-click on the *Command Prompt* application and click on *Run as administrator*:
**1.6:** In the *Command Prompt* window, go to the path where the installation files are located by typing *cd /d* and pressing Enter**. **
**1.7:** Then enter the *Installer* file name (for example, Lumion\_2023\_0\_3\_Download.exe) followed by any of the following parameters/commands.
- **-s or --silent;** silent installation.
- **-e or --silentautoexit;** auto continue after a silent installation has finished.
- **-d or --silentinstalldir;** custom installation directory.
### **Examples of using the commands**
#### 1.7.1: Silent installation in the default location
\`**Lumion\_2023\_0\_3\_Download.exe -s**\` or \`**Lumion\_2023\_0\_3\_Download.exe --silent**\`
This will perform a silent install in the default location \`C:\\Program Files\\Lumion 12.3\`.When the installation is finished, you need to press a key to continue.
#### 1.7.2: Auto-continue after silent installation
\`**Lumion\_2023\_0\_3\_Download.exe -s -e**\` or \`**Lumion\_2023\_0\_3\_Download.exe --silent --silentautoexit**\`
This will perform a silent install in the default location \`C:\\Program Files\\Lumion 2023\`. When the installation is finished, the *Installer* will automatically exit.
#### 1.7.3: Silent installation in a custom directory
\`**Lumion\_2023\_0\_3\_Download.exe -s -d “x:\\custom****”**\` or \`**Lumion\_2023\_0\_3\_Download.exe --silent --silentinstalldir “x:\\custom”**\`
This will perform a silent install in the custom location **“x:\\custom”**. Example: "G:\\Programs\\Lumion 2023".
- **Do not** use a backslash after the path name for example **“x:\\custom\\”.**
- You can specify a path that includes a folder name that has not yet been created and the *Installer* will create the folder.
- When the installation is finished you need to press any key to continue.
#### 1.7.4: Force error logging
\`**Lumion\_2023\_0\_3\_Download.exe -l**\` or \`**Lumion\_2023\_0\_3\_Download.exe --forcelogging**\`
Error logging is ON by default. However, there may be situations when the *logfile.txt* is not created. In that case, one of the arguments above should be used.
**1.8:** Ensure you copy the *Installer* '***.cache***' file:
- If you deploy the *Installer* on other devices and move the files to some other location than the folder you download the files to, then please make sure you also copy/move the '*.cache*' file. This is an essential file for the *Installer*.

### **1.10: Uninstall silently:**
You can also uninstall Lumion silently using similar parameters with the uninstall file 'uninstall000.exe' found in the install folder of Lumion.
For example:
**1.10.1:** In the *Command Prompt* window, go to the path where the installation files are located by typing *cd /d* and pressing Enter**. ** Example: cd /d C:\\Program Files\\Lumion 2023.
**1.10.2:** Then enter the *UnInstaller* file name (example: 'uninstall000.exe') followed by any of the following parameters/commands.
- **-s or --silent;** silent installation.
- **-e or --silentautoexit;** auto exit after the silent uninstall silent has finished.
#### For example: for an auto-exit after silent uninstall:
\`**uninstall000.exe**** -s -e**\` or \`**uninstall000.exe**** --silent --silentautoexit**\`
### 2. For Lumion 12.0.2 and older (InnoSetup):
**2.1:** Download the *Lumion* *Download Manager* via your [*Lumion Account*](https://account.lumion.com) and then run the *Download Manager*. Enter the *Activation Code* from the email or your *Lumion Account*.
**2.2:** Wait for the *Lumion* installation files to be downloaded at the same location as the *Download Manager* executable file. Please note that the *License Key* is embedded in the installation files, so you do not need to enter it anywhere during the installation.
**2.3:** Type "cmd" (no quotes) in the *Windows* search field and press *Enter*:
**2.4:** Right-click on the *Command Prompt* application and click on *Run as administrator*:
**2.5:** In the *Command Prompt* window, go to the path where your installation files are located by typing cd " " (include quotes) and press Enter **.**
**2.6: **Install Lumion by entering the installer executable filename (in quotation marks "") + /VERYSILENT. You may also want to include the "/LOG" option:
**2.7:** Please [click here](http://www.jrsoftware.org/ishelp/index.php?topic=setupcmdline) to see a list of all the command line options for the installation, for example how to specify a target installation path that differs from the default path. Also, error logging and other options are available.
