2026.0.0 release: February 24, 2026

2. How do you Download and Install Lumion 2026?

2.1: Lumion 2026.0 is available as a full install only.

Updates: As a major new version a full install will be required for Lumion 2026:

Subsequent versions will then activate the Updater for faster, smaller version updates.

    To see which version Lumion is on go to Settings > License:

    LumionVersion


    2.2: Full Download and Install via your Lumion Account

    Important: Lumion 2026.0 is available only via a full installation for the following versions:

    You have purchased a new Lumion Pro product.

    You have upgraded from a prior major version to Lumion 2026.0

    To get the latest fixes and improvements, simply download and install version 2026.0 from your Lumion Account. 

    Customers with a current (Active, or Upgraded) Subscription License Key can download Lumion 2026.0+ from their Lumion Account.

     

    2.3: How do you upgrade a Lumion 1-12 Perpetual License Key, or Lumion 2023/2024/2025 (no longer active Subscription) to version 2026?

    3. How do you install Lumion 2026?

    3.1: Full version Install:

    See Section 2.2 above or Section 2.3 above.

    • Lumion 2026.0 is a standalone, full install.

    Warning: Although you can have both Lumion 2025 and 2026 installed on the same PC, it is not required or advisable to do so.

    We recommend first uninstalling Lumion 2025.  Uninstalling Lumion 2025 only uninstalls the software.  It does not remove any of your files used for Projects as saved in the Lumion-Documents folders, such as the Imported Model files, Custom Materials and Groups.

    Loading Projects or Imported Models saved in Lumion 2026 and newer in an older version such as Lumion 2025 or Lumion 12.5 is not possible and will return an error. 

    The Default Lumion-Documents folder for Lumion 2026 uses a new folder '\Lumion 2026' to ensure files from this version do not get mixed up files from an earlier version.  Do not change the Lumion-Documents folder so that it uses a folder for Lumion 2025, or 2024, or earlier.

    The data is not backward compatible from Lumion 2026 to Lumion 2025 or earlier.  This is especially important for version 2026 as major changes have been done to the data file formats.

    Important:  If you are unsure about how to set up your Lumion-Documents folder, or if you think you need to keep using Lumion 2025 along with Lumion 2026, then please consult with us:

     

    3.2: For new users and users with Lumion 12.5 and older (who now have a Lumion 2026 License Key)

    • Lumion 2026.0 is a full, standalone installation. It is not a patch for older versions of Lumion.  See Section 2.3 above.
    • Do not uninstall older existing Lumion installations until you have transferred your Projects and Imported Models (see Section 4 below).
    • Do not install Lumion 2026.0 in the same folder as an older version of Lumion.
    • Ensure that there is plenty of free file space on the PC:

    4.2:  First time Save

    The first time you save a Project file in Lumion 2026.0 or newer after loading it from an earlier version, you will be required to use SaveAs. The Save option is unavailable (greyed out) to prevent any overwrite.  This is very important given the changes to the data structure.  And allows you to still Load an older version LSF file in that earlier version.
