Lumion 2026.1 Release
1. New feature highlights
1.1. Pattern Editor
The new Pattern Editor lets you apply fully customizable tile layouts to Materials directly within Lumion. If, for example, a specific brick bond or wood flooring layout you need is missing from the Library, you can easily build it yourself.
To get started, select a base Material to use as a source. In the advanced material settings, you will find a new category called Pattern. Enabling this feature unlocks the following options:
Preset: Select from a variety of Patterns, such as Common Bonds, Chevron, Basket Weave , Hexagon, Herringbone.
Tiling: Adjust the width of vertical and horizontal tiling, angle, rotation, offset and scale.
Variation: Adjust variation in color and positioning of the textures to get a random, natural pattern look.
Bevel: Add a bevel effect and control how strong and visible the effect is.
Grout: Change the color and width of the grout in the pattern.
Note: Landscape Tiling is automatically disabled when the Pattern Editor feature is active.

1.2. Panorama Improvements
1.2.1. Ray Tracing Support
(Interactive panorama viewer powered by Pannellum 2.5.7)
The Ray tracing Effect is now officially available inside Panorama Mode. Because this requires a significant amount of VRAM to render at higher resolutions, enabling it comes with some limitations:
- The output is currently limited to a new Draft resolution (3072x1536 - ideal for graphics cards with less than 12GB of VRAM) and Medium (4096x2048). The Large resolution (8192x4096) is currently not available.
- Stereoscopic output and Cubic Projection are disabled.
Also, Panorama Mode with Ray tracing utilizes a completely separate rendering pipelines compared to the standard hybrid. This means that, when the Effect is enabled, Objects or Materials not yet fully integrated into the Raytracing pipeline will be invisible in the real-time preview, HQ Preview, and final outputs. This includes
- Animated Characters, Flags, Text Objects, and Decals.
- Effect Objects (fountains, fire, smoke, fog, leaves, etc.)
- Clipping Planes, Ocean and Water Planes, Waterfall Materials, 3D Grass/Fur/Foliage Materials, and Weathering settings.
Note: Since combining rasterized versions with Ray tracing inside Panoramas is not possible, the Fully ray-traced glass and water settings are permanently enabled.
The following output Effects are disabled as well:
- RT Volumetrics, Volumetric Lights, Volume Clouds, Precipitation, Remove background, Material highlight, and Near clip plane.

- Knowledge Base: How do you render using Ray Tracing for 360 Panoramas?
1.2.2. Lumion Cloud VR Support
Panorama renders uploaded Lumion Cloud can now be viewed immersively in with a VR Headset. It is also possible to creative interactive tours where you can jump between 360 renders on your Projects.
1.3: Custom Templates
You can now build and save your own tailored environments as Templates using your own Project files. Under the Create new project section, you will find a new Custom tab. Simply click the + button to browse and import an .LSF scene file directly from your local hard drive, which will instantly generate a reusable Template entry inside the tab.
Note: The scene file must match your current license type (e.g., student Project files .LSFS can be added using a Student License Key, but cannot be imported into a commercial Lumion Pro License). Older version files will trigger a warning screen; simply open and re-save them in the current version of Lumion to resolve the issue.

1.4: Saving & Loading Multi-Placement Collections

When distributing multiple Objects via any multi-placement method, including Line Placement, Cluster Placement, Paint Placement, or Area Placement, you can now save your Object Collection as an .lpc file.
This file can then be loaded into any multi-placement tool within that same category.

Note: To ensure cross compatibility, these files are strictly category specific. For example, a collection generated in the Nature category can only be loaded when the Nature asset tool is active, while a Transport collection requires the Transport library tool.
Here are some example Collections that you can download for free and use for quickly populating the landscape in your Projects:

Boreal Forest Temperate Forest Tropical Jungle Dry Woodland
Canopy Canopy Canopy Canopy
Groundcover Groundcover Groundcover Groundcover

1.5: Custom Styles
Reusing custom Effect configurations across projects is now much more intuitive. The 2026.1 release introduces Custom Styles, allowing you to save your favorite effect stacks and access them directly from the Styles Gallery.
- Saving a Style: Ensure you have at least one active effect applied. Click the ... (three dots) icon or use the context menu in the effect list panel and select Save as custom style.. This instantly adds the configuration to the Custom tab in the Styles Gallery.
- Loading a Style: Open the Styles Gallery, click the Custom Styles button, and select your saved profile on the right side.

Note on Compatibility: If a saved style contains an effect that is incompatible with your current mode (e.g., an Advanced Move Effect loaded while inside Photo Mode), that specific effect will be automatically skipped and will not load. The interface now displays two full lines of the custom style name before truncating text.

1.6: Delete Brush Mode
To optimize large-scale scene cleanup, you no longer need to click individual Object selection nodes to remove assets. Select the new Delete Brush tool in Build Mode to paint over multiple Objects and erase large quantities exponentially faster.

The Brush Size slider lets you increase or decrease the brush area of effect, making it easier to quickly clear larger sections of a scene while maintaining precise control.
1.7: Custom Parallax .EXR Support

Users can now load compatible .EXR maps into Lumion's Parallax Interiors Effect Objects and save them to their custom library. The article below covers everything you need to know on how to load and save these maps:
- Knowledge Base: One-click 3d looking Rooms with Parallax Interiors
1.8: Walkthrough Camera for Theatre Mode

When viewing Projects in full-screen Theatre Mode (F11), you can now activate a realistic Walkthrough mode toggle located at the bottom left of the user interface. When turned on, the camera stays locked at a standard human eye-level of 1.6 meters above the ground and dynamically moves at regular walking speed, automatically tracking changes in the underlying terrain or floor geometry surface.
This provides a more realistic, eye-level perspective way to review and present designs.
1.9: Improved Update Screen

Gain better control over your software deployments. Starting with this version, whenever a new update is pushed to the server, the screen allows users to view and selectively choose the exact version build update they wish to download and install. This option becomes active once running version 2026.1 or higher, provided newer update files are available.
1.10. Revamped Library Models and Materials

This release introduces an asset overhaul, modernizing older geometric Models with detailed PBR material definitions and adding color customizable parameters to optimize library footprint.
