1. Can I use Lumion Cloud without a License Key?
Answer:
If you are using Lumion Cloud to upload and manage renders and projects then you require to login using a valid Lumion Account. A Lumion Account is needed as part of one of the Lumion products, such as Lumion Pro and Lumion View.
If you are Invited as a contributor or client and providing feedback, then a Lumion Account is not a requirement to do so.
2. Can I use Lumion Cloud without a Subscription version of Lumion?
Answer:
For the current Beta release, yes.
3. Can I use Lumion Cloud if I pay for just Lumion Cloud as I don't have or want a Lumion Subscription?
Answer:
Sorry. Currently Lumion Cloud is being developed as part of the Lumion product suite and a Subscription for its features and services is required.
You have three different value options for a Subscription:
1. Lumion Suite: includes Lumion Pro and Lumion View.
2. Lumion Pro.
3. Lumion View.
Each product is integrated with Lumion Cloud.

4. If you are not the “Owner” of a Render or of a Project, can you still delete the files?
Answer:
No. You should not be able to do that. User permissions and profiles managed should mean that won't happen. If it does then let us know.
5. Is Lumion Cloud optional?
Answer:
Lumion Cloud is not required for your regular desktop use of Lumion Pro or Lumion View.
However, it is now a feature in 2025.1.0 that you have access to as part of Lumion.
You can also access Lumion Account directly via the web site.
It’s a great feature to make use of if you would like to collaborate and share projects more easily with your team and/or clients.
6. We have a Lumion floating license so want to check if we need to do anything.
Answer:
With a Floating license you will have at least one Lumion Account already in existence.
You just need Lumion Accounts for each user of Lumion in your office who wants to use Lumion Cloud and contribute.
Whilst it is possible to use just one Lumion Account for access, there are benefits for Project management and contributing to the visualization versions and variations of render output.
7. Can more than one user access Lumion Cloud at a time?
Answer:
For your valid Lumion Account, then yes.
8. You received a recent email about Lumion Cloud. On the Lumion Cloud preview site, it notes the following at the end:
"If you use a floating Lumion Pro license, you (and everyone on your team) will need your own Lumion Account."
My question is will all users need a Lumion Account to use/license Lumion Pro, or is this a requirement only to access Lumion Cloud?
Answer:
Having a Lumion Account is now a requirement for all License types and for Lumion to work.
This makes it much easier for overall management of the Lumion Account and access to Lumion Cloud or Lumion View (if you wish to use).
Whist it is possible to only have one or a few main Lumion Accounts for all users in your office, it makes sense to have each or a manager create accounts.
Not only does that provide for improved access - one use is not dependent on another. But it allows for a better online collaboration and Project workflow.
For normal use of Lumion Pro on the desktop with a floating license, nothing changes. You don’t need everyone to have a Lumion Account just to run the software. The floating license still works the same way it always has: it checks out a seat when Lumion starts and releases it when Lumion closes.
9. Is the cloud update just optional?
We have two floating licenses so want to double check if we need to do anything.
Answer:
The Lumion Cloud isn’t required for your regular desktop use with floating licenses, but it’s a great feature to explore if you’d like to collaborate and share projects more easily with your team.
You’d just need Lumion Accounts for each user who wants to use Lumion Cloud.
10. What happens if I Sign Out from the Lumion Cloud and I still have Lumion open?
11. . What happens when I reach the storage or number of Projects limits?
Answer:
We'll check on that and let you know.
12. What file types are supported?
Answer:
Supported files types in Lumion Cloud via direct upload are: jpg, png, gif, jpeg, mp4, mov, mkv, webm, mv, pdf.
Supported file types for upload from within Lumion Pro and Lumion View to Lumion Cloud are: jpg, png.
Lumion Pro does not support output file types that Lumion Cloud supports of: gif, jpeg, mov, mkv, webm, mv, pdf.
Lumion Cloud does not support some files types that Lumion Pro supports for render output of: bmp and TGA.
13. Can you install Lumion in the Lumion Cloud?
Answer:
Lumion Cloud is not a cloud service for hosting Lumion.
See this article for cloud service hosts for Lumion Pro:
- Knowledge Base: Is Lumion compatible with remote desktop or cloud services?
14. Why Cant I Upload MP4 files from Lumion Pro?
Answer:
As of Lumion Pro release 2025.1.0 MP4 files require further development to fully integrate with Lumion Cloud.
Please upload your rendered MP4 file using the Lumion Cloud Add Render feature.
15. Why Cant I Upload files to the Projects screen?
Answer:
As of Lumion Pro release 2025.1.0 direct uploads to the Projects workspace requires further development so that Lumion knows what Projects you have and present a realtime list for you to choose from.
In the meantime, please either Upload directly to a Project:
- Knowledge Base: Projects Screen
Or, directly upload in Lumion or Lumion View to the Renders workspace, then move the render to a Project of your choice.

16. Do my clients or those I invite for feedback need to have a Lumion Account?
Answer:
No. You share a link to the render or Project via your Invite that will give them access.
A Lumion Account is needed if you want to use Lumion Cloud for uploading, providing easy access, and managing renders and feedback for projects.
17. Can you share a Lumion Project(file) so that it can be edited online?
It would not be a comment areas, but have the ability to change things within the Project file. A lot like some CAD now have an online web based version where it allows multiple users to access the same model and edit the model directly.
Answer:
Lumion Cloud is not intended for storage or editing of Lumion Project files or CAD files. The platform is currently designed for reviewing and collaborating on rendered outputs rather than simultaneous editing of the same Project file.
It is is currently well outside the scope of Lumion Cloud to provide for editing a fully 3D realtime environment such as you do in the Lumion editor. The Lumion Editor provides for complex, real time 3D content editing and management, and allows for massive amounts of 3D content/data compared to the small vector based CAD model options.
18. How are project members notified when new content is uploaded?
Answer:
All project members automatically receive an email notification whenever a change is made (such as uploading new revisions). The email includes details of the activity and a link back to the project.
19. Q: Can I send a direct message to clients/invitees through the cloud?:
Answer:
No, there is no direct messaging feature. Communication outside of the automatic system notifications should be sent through your usual channels (email, chat, etc.).
20. Do invitees see Notifications as well as project owners?:
Answer:
Yes, all project members (including invitees) receive relevant notifications about activity within the project. They can also check the Activity Log for a full history of updates.
21. Can I control or customize how notifications are sent?
Notifications are automatically triggered by project activity and sent by email. Users can also toggle off all notifications if they choose to, but there is no option to customize or send manual notifications directly from the platform. Management of the notification for a Project is being enhanced.
22. Is the current storage capacity of 50GB for Lumion Cloud per License?
Answer:
No.
For the Beta Access the plan is per Lumion Account/Lumion Cloud Account.
The Beta Access Plan may change for the full Release of Lumion Cloud.
23. What storage do you get if you have a License Key with more than one Seat?
Answer:
The storage and Plan is not based on Seats. It is based on having an Account.
So currently for the Beta Release if you have only one Account (Lumion Cloud Account or Lumion Account) then there is storage of 50GB for that one Account.
If you had three Seats then you also have the 50GB per Account. You can have three Accounts and each then gets an allocation of 50GB.
This also applies for Lumion Pro (Named-User) or Lumion Studio (Lumion Pro - Floating).
So, regardless of License Key type or number of Seats, the Plan is based on having an Account.
24. Can you combine storage?
For example: if a company has three separate License Keys with one (1) Seat for each, can they combine Lumion Cloud storage and use the 150GB of storage without Merging the Licenses Keys?
Answer:
It is not possible to combine or merge the storage. As in Question 22 and 23, the Plan and storage is based on a per Account basis, only. An Account has up to a maximum storage of 50GB.
Storage requirements will be assessed from customer usage and requirements both during the Beta Access period, and after full Release. So changes may occur.
