Lumion View for SketchUp 2025 has been officially released!

This handy tool brings the power of real-time visualization straight into your 3D modeling workflow. Seamlessly integrated as a plugin, it lets you experience fast Ray Traced previews, fine-tune lighting, experiment with Styles, and enhance Materials on the fly, making it easier than ever to explore ideas, refine designs, and present your models.

Lumion View comes included in Lumion Studio and can also be purchased separately. Learn more below:

Changes

1. License and Account Management

1.1. Lumion View is no longer in Early Access and is now commercially available. It can be purchased as a separate Subscription or as a bundle with Lumion Studio:

1.3. Lumion View is also offered to students (included with the Student License) and for Faculty Licenses.

2.1. Added a 'days left' counter for Trial users.

2.2. Added a 'Buy' button in the title bar for Trial users.

1. New Features

1.1. Environment

1.1.1. Time of day Synchronization

Lumion View now has different options to sync the Shadows settings from SketchUp:

  • Use SketchUp settings:

Keeping the 'Sun Study' toggle off will automatically sync the time of day and month from SketchUp:

  • Overwrite settings:

Enabling the 'Sun Study' toggle will allow you to overwrite the settings and use a custom Sun position independently from SketchUp, using a similar interface. 

 

1.1.2. Clouds System

A slider that controls the amount of Clouds in the Sky has been added:

Note that the amount of Cloudiness will have an impact on lighting. Having more Clouds results in brighter, softer shadows.

2.1. User Interface

2.1.1. Lights

Clicking on the Lights button will now always open the 'Create Lumion Light' window, even if a Light is currently selected:

Existing Lights can be edited by double-clicking them in the SketchUp model space.

2.1.2. Projection Notification

Lumion View now displays a notification when 2-point perspective is turned on in SketchUp.

The Wood and Styrofoam Styles have been improved with better tiling and higher quality textures:

 

2.3. Performance

2.3.1. Resource Management

The system resources used by Lumion View when running in the background have been optimized. When the window is not visible on screen, the frame rate is capped to reduce load. Additionally, the maximum frame rate when active is now limited to 60 FPS for improved performance and stability

 

3. Fixes

3.1. Rendering and features

  • The output resolution now updates correctly when selecting Current Resolution for rendering after the Lumion View window has been resized.
  • Copy Image to Clipboard no longer triggers an error.

3.2. Materials

  • Removing a normal texture map from SketchUp will now update the aspect of the Material in Lumion View.
  • Increasing the Emissive slider will no longer make the normal map invisible.
  • Cancelling changes while editing a Material will now restore the previous settings.
  • Material assignment no longer changes when copying and pasting geometry in SketchUp.

 

3.3. General

  • The login window should no longer occasionally flicker.
  • Users with upgraded Perpetual License Keys now have early access to Lumion View.
  • The loading animation will no longer be displayed during login.
  • Trial users can now see the number of days left for evaluation.
  • It is now possible to disable User Analytics via the User tab.

 

3.4. Miscellaneous

  • Various UI changes.
  • Versioning has been adjusted.
  • EULA screen improvements.

 

3.5. License and Account Management:

  • Early Access: Now also available for Lumion Pro Perpetual License Key holders.
