We often get asked about doing visualizations that require a larger variety of ethnicities, specific trades, or specific ages of people. Preferably as 3D models.
1. Here's How:
It is possible to include 3D models in your visualizations that are not part of the Lumion Library. You would do that by locating and importing suitable models provided by 3D model resource sites such aXYZ (of which we have used in the past and you see in our Library), and Humano, etc. We have a list of some of those online resources in our Resources Section:
- Lumion Community: The official Lumion list of 3D model collections
Note that it is currently only possible to import 3D People models that are static, so no animated models.
- Knowledge Base: Can you import animated 3D people and animals in Lumion?
Also, any models need to be carefully chosen in terms of their detail and complexity. To work in the Lumion real-time environment requires that the models are best optimized so that the polygon count is at a minimum and texture resolutions are not too large but still maintain quality. If you need one or two of that 3D person it might be OK, but if you need to duplicate or have 100's of models then, depending on hardware, it could be a problem for refreshing the screen.
Increasing the ethnicity and diversity of 3D People has been mentioned by some of our other users. The best way to improve the chances of seeing such resources added in Lumion is to add a topic to our Feedback Form here at the Lumion Community:
And include some reference photos as appropriate.
To be able to access the Resources section, all that's needed is to create a Lumion Account and register your License Key. That then gives you access to the full commercial section.
- Knowledge Base: How do you get technical support?
Note that for more distant content, or as a visualization option you might also want to consider 2D camera facing objects (similar to our People - 2D) that are realistic.
- Knowledge Base: How do you import 2D cut-outs of people?
There is a wealth of high-quality resolution models that are easy to make in SketchUp etc and import to form part of your people resources. Please search in Google or Bing. If you find a good site, please let us know.
Note: the Lumion Library itself is not available for adding to. You use the Imported Model Library for your own added resources.
2. Models with specific parts:
We also get asked questions such as "Can you send me models of people in an office environment with surgical masks on?"
Unfortunately, specifically creating models for a customer or adding other parts to a model is not a service we provide.
Feel free to download your required resources from any of the websites or 3D model databases and then import them in Lumion.
A few examples of sources are TurboSquid, Anima, 3DPeople, RenderPeople, Mixamo, Daz3d and Axyz Design, Plant Factory or SpeedTree. Again, see our link above to the Resources for models.
