Installing Lumion
You have been trying to install Lumion, but there is a problem after the download and during the installation phase. The Lumion Installer (also referred to as Installer) shows an error message about the required files.
Please follow the instructions in the sections below that corresponds to the error message you are seeing when trying to install Lumion.
If you are having problems with using the Updater once Lumion has been installed? See this article, Section 7:
- Knowledge Base: How does the Updater for Lumion work?
Error Message:
1-3. One or more installation files missing.
4. StartExeAndWait: File not found!
5. Response status not 200
6. CRC download failed from server.
7. Could not write setup file.
And if after trying the suggested fix you still get the same error message then see Section 8. Still not working? Contact Us.
Why is the installation not working?
1. Error Message: One or more installation files missing.
[Our reference: Inst10, 10444]
Explanation:
The Installation file '.000' was not found.
How To Fix:
1.1: Antivirus or Firewall is blocking the Installer:
It is also possible that the antivirus software on the PC is blocking the Lumion Installer from correctly reading the Activation Code. Please follow these steps.
1.2: Please make sure that your firewall and/or router are not preventing the Lumion Installer from accessing the following domains via port 80 (HTTP):
- product-download-storage.lumion3d.net
- downloadmanager.lumion3d.net
1.3: Please make sure that the anti-virus and security software on your PC is not preventing the Lumion Installer from opening and saving required files. To do so, you will need to add an exclusion for:
- The Lumion Installer file, usually named: 'Lumion_[Releasenumber]_[Version]_[Extra]_Download.exe', for example 'Lumion_12_3_Download.exe'.
- The folder that you have saved the Lumion Installer file to if that is not the Windows default 'Downloads' folder or the Windows 'Desktop' folder.

2. Error Message: One or more installation files missing.
[Our reference: Inst11, 10450]
Explanation:
The Installation file '.001' was not found.
How To Fix:
See the steps in the above Section 1. Error Message: One or more installation files missing.
3. Error Message: One or more installation files missing.
[Our reference: Inst12, 10456]
Explanation:
After pressing 'Start installation' a check is done for all required files.
If the '.cache' file is not there then the installation cannot continue.
How To Fix:
Restart the Installer.
4. Error Message: StartExeAndWait: File not found!
[Our reference: Inst20, 10746]
Explanation:
The Installer or Uninstaller '.bat' scripts for some reason were not found in the temporary folder to execute.
How To Fix:
Try restarting the Installer.
5. Error Message: Response status not 200
[Our reference: Inst40, 40444]
Explanation:
The Installer is unable to get a correct response.
There could be a lack of suitable user permissions in Windows or antivirus or security software is blocking the Installer.
How To Fix:
5.1: See Steps 7.1 to 7.3 in Section 7. Error Message: Could not write setup file.
5.2: Then see the steps in the above Section 1. Error Message: One or more installation files missing.
6. Error Message: CRC download failed from server.
[Our reference: Inst50, 50236]
Explanation:
The CRC (checking) file failed from the server when the Lumion version does not exist.
How To Fix:
See Section 8. Still not working? Contact Us:
7. Error Message: Could not write setup file.
[Our reference: DL11, 50290]
Explanation:
Failed to create the installer '.000' file or failed to save data to create the file.
This may happen if there are insufficient Windows user privileges for the Installer to get permission to create the file.
Usually but not always, if you are downloading to the Windows default Download folder or to the Windows Desktop, then user permissions are OK.
Or antivirus or security monitoring software is preventing the Installer from creating the file in that folder.
How To Fix:
7.1: In Windows File Explorer, set Windows permissions to Administrator. Close the Installer. Right-click the Installer '.exe' file. Select 'Run as Administrator'.
7.2: Else log in to Windows with an account that is an administrator and try again.
7.3: If that does not work or you do not have an Administrator account for Windows then try these steps to set permissions at the folder and file level.
In Windows File Explorer, right-click on the folder that the Installer is located in, select Properties, click on the Security tab, then select the 'user name' User (not the SYSTEM or Administrators) and make sure that the following permissions are ticked for 'Allow':
7.4: Then see section 2 of this article and add exclusions for the Installer and also for the folder where the files are being downloaded to.
