Is there a Trial of Lumion?

Yes there is!

The %%Lumion Pro Trial%% lets you evaluate the latest version of Lumion free for 14 consecutive days.

The %%Trial%% includes the same features and functionality as the full commercial edition of Lumion Pro, but uses a smaller installation with a reduced content %%Library%%, making it much faster to download and install.

 

1. What is included in the Lumion Pro Trial?

  • Is fully functional and includes the same features as the commercial edition of Lumion Pro 2026.
  • Is valid for 14 consecutive days, starting when you launch the %%Trial%% for the first time.
  • Is managed as a %%Named-user License%%.
  • Is not a subscription and there are no charges associated with it.
  • Must be started within 30 days of the %%Trial License Key%% being issued. Otherwise, it will expire.

A smaller and faster Trial download

The %%Trial%% has been optimized to make it quicker and easier to get started. It is approximately 12 GB, significantly smaller than the complete Lumion Pro installation.

The smaller size is achieved by including a reduced selection of %%Library%% assets. The %%Trial%% includes many of the most commonly used assets, as well as the content required for the included example %%Projects%% and %%Templates%%.

The %%Trial%% currently includes:

  • A curated selection of Lumion %%Library%% content.
  • 3 Example %%Projects%%.
  • 3 %%Templates%%.
  • The full Lumion Pro feature set.

Note: Because only a selection of the complete Content Library is installed, some Library categories may contain fewer assets or appear empty in the Trial.

2. How many times can you use the Lumion Trial?

You can use one Lumion %%Trial%% per PC for each minor Lumion version.

Once the %%Trial%% has expired, attempting to activate another %%Trial%% of the same major Lumion version on that PC may result in the PC being locked from further %%Trial%% use.

If you need additional time to evaluate Lumion, please request a %%Trial%% extension instead. See Section 3 below.

You can use your %%Trial License%% on another compatible PC, provided that PC has not already used a %%Trial%% for the same major Lumion version and the Trial period is still active.

3. What happens when your Trial expires?

When your %%Trial%% period ends, Lumion will provide several options directly within the application.

You can:

  • Upgrade to Lumion Pro and continue working with the full commercial edition.
  • Contact our Sales team if you would like help choosing the right option.
  • Request a Trial extension if you need more time to evaluate Lumion.
  • Share feedback about your experience with the %%Trial%%.

 

Need more time?

You can now request a Trial extension directly from Lumion after your %%Trial%% expires.

Select Extend Trial and follow the instructions shown on screen.

There is no need to obtain and activate another %%Trial%% License.

 

4. What happens if you purchase Lumion after the Trial?

You do not need to uninstall the %%Trial%% and download Lumion again.

When Lumion detects that you now have access to a commercial Lumion Pro License, it can upgrade your existing %%Trial%% installation to the complete version.

Lumion will automatically offer an additional content update of approximately 40+ GB. This downloads the Content %%Library%% assets and other content that were not included with the smaller %%Trial%% installation.

This applies whether you:

  • Upgrade your existing %%Trial%% License to a commercial License, or
  • Purchase a separate new commercial Lumion Pro License.

After the additional content has been downloaded and installed, your existing Lumion installation becomes the complete Lumion Pro installation.

Note: The exact download size may vary depending on the Lumion version and installed content.

 

5. Can you use Projects created with the Trial after purchasing Lumion?

Yes, but there are some important considerations.

If you intend to use the %%Trial%% for commercial work, please be aware that %%Projects%% created with a %%Trial%% are initially associated with the PC and %%Trial%% License used to create them.

If you upgrade the %%Trial License Key%% to a commercial %%License Key%%, your %%Trial Projects%% can subsequently be opened on other PCs using that upgraded commercial License.

If you instead purchase a separate commercial %%License Key%%, you may first need to open and save the %%Trial Project%% using the commercial edition on the same PC where the %%Trial Project%% was originally created.
