How can you make faces double-sided for leaves, plants and other objects?

You have a problem with some faces that appear invisible when importing 3D trees/plant models or other objects.

For example: You know that the foliage of the trees is made from the front and see that the leaves are visible. But when the camera moves around the tree to the back there are no longer any leaves showing.

Here's how to fix this:

For Lumion 2023.0:

In the Import Model menu select Force double-sided surfaces:

Import.png

Warning: Doing so can significantly increase the complexity of the model and in some cases result in slow screen and render times. Please use with caution.

For Lumion 12.5 and older:

If the faces of an object are invisible from on one side but visible on the other, you can make the whole model double-sided in Lumion by adding the suffix _safemode to the file name.

For example FileName_safemode.DAE.

Warning: Doing so can significantly increase the complexity of the model and in some cases result in slow screen and render times. Please use with caution.

Applicable to:

Lumion 12.5 and older
