How do you lock a Lumion License Key to a PC?

Starting from Lumion version 2025.2.0, it is now possible to Lock a floating License Key to a specific PC.

This can be done by enabling the following setting under Settings > License:

Important: The setting can only be enabled or disabled when Lumion is started as an Administrator.

For system admins, there's also a way to do this via the Windows registry and without having to start Lumion. Please contact us for help in case this is needed in your organization:

What this does is enable users to start Lumion and sign in/out without having to select a License Key or associate it with their account.

If the setting is enabled, the license selection screen will be skipped.  This ensures it is not possible to switch License Keys on a PC.  And it ensures a single license is always tied to the machine, even when different users log in. Note that this can be done on multiple PCs using the same License Key.

This feature is particularly useful in shared environments.  For example, university computer labs using Faculty versions, where  Administrators don’t want Students switching License Keys on the PCs when signing in, or users viewing the Activation Code.

It can also be used with Studio floating License Keys in any scenario where locking a key to a specific PC improves control or security.
