1. What's New?

1.1: Resources on the Release

As this is a considerably complex update of Lumion, also consult: 

1.2: Upgrades:  Your License Key may have been upgraded! (as at 2025.0 release) to Lumion Studio

Lumion Pro Subscribers and Lumion Standard Subscribers have both been upgraded to Lumion Studio. Lumion Studio is a new Subscription type that brings:

  • Lumion Pro with floating Seats
  • Lumion View with named-user Seats

2. How do you Download and Install Lumion 2025?

2.1: Lumion Updater (Download and Install)

Lumion 2025.2.0 is available as an Update only for Lumion 2025.0.2 and 2025.1.0.

The Updater will download and then proceed to install Lumion 2025.2.0.

Ensure you have the Auto Download Updates in Settings > System set to On:

Users on older versions need to do a full installation, see Section 2.2.

Updates: Updates have been re-enabled when starting Lumion.:

● Lumion 2024.0.1 to 2024.4.2 cannot update to 2025.0+. They only update to 2024.4.3 at the most. 
● Lumion 2025.0 to 2025.0.1 cannot update to 2025.1.0+.  Only versions 2025.0.2 and 2025.1.0 can update directly to 2025.2.0.

For all others, please see the next section (2.2) on downloading as a full install.  

Subsequent versions will then activate the Updater for faster, smaller version updates.

    2.2: Full Download and Install via your Lumion Account

    Important: Lumion 2025.2.0 is available only via a full installation for the following versions:

    You have purchased a new Lumion Pro product.

    You have upgraded from a prior major version to Lumion 2025.0

    For Lumion 2024:

    All versions of Lumion 2024: 2024.0.1 to 2024.4.3.

    For Lumion 2025:

    Lumion versions 2025.0, 2025.0.1, 2025.1.0.

    To get the latest fixes and improvements, simply download and install version 2025.2 from your Lumion Account. Installing this version will overwrite your current 2025 version. 

    Customers with a current (Active, or Upgraded,) Subscription License Key can download Lumion 2025.2+ from their Lumion Account.

     

    2.3: How do you upgrade a Lumion 1-12 Perpetual License Key, or Lumion 2023/2024 (no longer active Subscription) to version 2025?

    Requires a Full Download and Install:

    3.1: Lumion Updater

    For those on Lumion 2025.0.2 and 2025.1.0 only, see Section 2.1 above.

    3.2: Full version Install:

    For all other versions, see Section 2.2 above or Section 2.3 above.

    • Lumion 2025.2 is a standalone, full install.

    Warning: Although you can have both Lumion 2024 and 2025 installed on the same PC, it is not required or advisable to do so.

    We recommend first uninstalling Lumion 2024.  Uninstalling Lumion 2024 only uninstalls the software.  It does not remove any of your files used for Projects as saved in the Lumion-Documents folders, such as the Imported Model files, Custom Materials and Groups.

    Loading Projects or Imported Models saved in Lumion 2025 and newer in an older version such as Lumion 2024 or Lumion 12.5 is not possible and will return an error. 

    The Default Lumion-Documents folder for Lumion 2025 uses a new folder '\Lumion 2025' to ensure files from this version do not get mixed up files from an earlier version.  Do not change the Lumion-Documents folder so that it uses a folder for Lumion 2024, or 2023, or earlier.

    The data is not backward compatible from Lumion 2025 to Lumion 2024 or earlier.  This is especially important for version 2025 as major changes have been done to the data file formats.

    Important:  If you are unsure about how to set up your Lumion-Documents folder, or if you think you need to keep using Lumion 2024 along with Lumion 2025, then please consult with us:

     

    3.2: For new users and users with Lumion 12.5 and older (who now have a Lumion 2025 License Key)

    • Lumion 2025.2 is a full, standalone installation. It is not a patch for older versions of Lumion.  See Section 2.3 above.
    • Do not uninstall older existing Lumion installations until you have transferred your Projects and Imported Models (see Section 4 below).
    • Do not install Lumion 2025.1 in the same folder as an older version of Lumion.
    • Ensure that there is plenty of free file space on the PC:

    4.2:  First time Save

    The first time you save a Project file in Lumion 2025.0 or newer after loading it from an earlier version, you will be required to use SaveAs. The Save option is unavailable (greyed out) to prevent any overwrite.  This is very important given the changes to the data structure.  And allows you to still Load an older version LSF file in that earlier version.
