Lumion 2024:
In Lumion 2024 the Ray Tracing Effect has been temporarily disabled for 360 Panoramas whilst improvements are further developed and implemented. Section 6.
- Knowledge Base: Transitions from prior versions to using Lumion 2024
In the meantime you can still create great renders using the still available Rasterization rendering pipeline (no Ray Tracing Effect).
Need Advice using Lumion 2024?
- You have already been using Lumion 2024 for a Project that necessitates 360 Panorama renders
- You have a critical Project you are considering using Lumion 2024 for and it has a requirement for using Ray Tracing for the 360 Panoramas.
Then we may be able to assist with some further suggestions:

Lumion 2023:
For great and easy to use results, use the Rasterization rendering pipeline (no Ray Tracing Effect).
Or the following options if you need to Ray Trace.
Ray Trace:
The effectiveness of Raytracing in Panorama depends on the lighting conditions and how the Scene is illuminated, specifically with Natural Lighting. Generally speaking, an interior shot will generate more noise than an exterior shot, particularly if there is a lack of direct light or a scarcity of ambient or natural lighting.
Currently, to mitigate the noise in an interior scene, the workaround is to set the output quality to 1 Star, as anything higher will result in a noisy output. For example:
At 1 Star the Ray Tracing sample rate is fixed to 1. Setting the Samples to a higher value as you would normally do, as in Photo Mode, will have no effect, as only 1 Sample will be used.
The Denoising works with the Ray Tracing Effect in Panoramas only in 1 Star, the lowest output quality setting (section 1.3):
Rasterization:
For rasterization rendering you would usually want to set the Output Quality to either 3 or 4 for the highest (AA) antialiasing quality and render times. That Output Quality is still available for Rasterization.
However, because of the current limitation for the Denoiser, only 1 Star is available if you want to include the denoising on the render. No antialiasing occurs. Depending on the Scene, your render may still be quite suitable.
Our Recommended Solution:
Lumion 2023:
- Enable the Denoiser.
- Set the minimum for the Firefly Reduction within the Ray Tracing Effect.
- Set the output to 1 Star to achieve optimal noise reduction and the best available quality.
You can disable the Denoiser and use a higher Output Quality Star (Denoiser is not used by the renderer) but your Scene may have a high degree of noise from the Ray Tracing rendering process. In some cases, due to the lighting in your Scene, there might be little noise. You may need to test a few options.

Other Workaround:
There is a possible workaround provided by one of our members using more Area Lights. It may or may not work for your Scene.

Development:
Our development team are aware of the issues and limitations and have planned improvements on improving the Raytracing denoiser and Ray Tracing working with 360 Panorama renders. Unfortunately, we can't give you an exact date for when improvements will be available
