Can you move key frames in the Advanced Move Effect? [Movie Mode: Other Tips and FAQ's]

Effects:

1.  Can you move key frames in the Advanced Move Effect?

Question:

Once you establish Keyframes for movement in the Advanced Move Effect, can you then move the Keyframes around to adjust the timing.  Or do you have to redo the Keyframes completely?

Answer:

Lumion 12.0 and newer

Good news,

The Advanced Move Effect received a major update and now allows you to move any of the Keyframes.  This makes it much simpler to re-arrange the timing of the changes to the transform (Position, Rotation, Scale) of an Object.

Here's a summary of those changes.

Changes and Improvements:

  • Make it very easy now to set a first key or any key.
  • Move keys.  Use your mouse to drag keys from one point in the timeline to another.
  • You can set any of the Transform properties of an Object as you do in Build Mode, with the same interface for Position, including Type-In of Position, and with Rotate, Scale with sliders (Type-In values).
  • Move to the next or previous key.
  • Toggle Layers on/off.
  • Select an Object by its Node Icon or by one of its surfaces.

Lumion 2023.1.2:

Also in Lumion 2023.1.2  saw the introduction of Linear Paths, whereas before, only curved based paths were supported:

Prior to Lumion 12.0:

Unfortunately, there is no feature for moving the Keyframes

You need to create a new Keyframes and delete the old one (if still not needed).  Hopefully, it does not require that you redo all Keyframes, just those needing an adjustment of the timing.

The best way is to select the Keyframe needing a change, then move the timeline to the new time

Then change the Position, Rotation, Scale of the Object so that the Object is at the same (or as close as) to what it was in the old Keyframe

Then once happy with that, delete the keyframe no longer required.
